Something For Your Spirit

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord

Times of adversity will cause someone to do things they would never have considered if it were not for them feeling their back was against the wall. The wall of sickness, fear, financial distress, problems with their marriage, children, car not working, job driving them crazy and on and on. But this Psalm begins with 2 verses that should bring the greatest comfort during these difficult times.

The writer wants you to slow down, take a deep breath and know for a certainty...in spite of my issues, inspite of what I am going through, I am going to lift my eyes upward, to the hills because that is where my help is. Down here is trouble but "My Help" cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth. That alone ought to bring a "Glory or Thank You" from you.

This 121 Psalm shows the reader that "God Is Our Keeper" in fact keepeth (or preserves) is used 6 times in this song. Verse (3) he that keepeth thee will not slumber. (4) Behold he that keepeth Israel shall not slumber nor sleep. Verse (5) The Lord is thy keeper. Verse (7) The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. Verse (8) The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Not only is God the maker of Heaven and Earth but He is also our Guardian and Caretaker. God has got you covered but that is what we should expect from our God. Our faith should increase day by day knowing that no matter what life throws my way, I am taken care of.

The old Saints used to say God neither sleeps or slumbers Verse (3) tells us that and verse (4) reminds the nation (Israel) that God never sleeps nor slumbers. Since God is awake taking care of us, I am going to sleep. Verse (6) The sun and moon can do us no harm is a simple way of showing us we have 24 hours of protection.

These are perilous times we are living in but to the believer we should not have any need to  be alarmed. Satan is loose in this world and he is on his job but this song say's in verse (7) The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil. Not some evil, All evil AND he shall preserve thy soul. Trust God, believe His Word because God is truly our keeper.

This does not mean we will not face adversity, we will have our share of difficulty but believe God. No matter what we may face, we will over come it because God is our keeper.

Thank You Lord for this Word.
