Humility Of Leadership

2nd Chronicles 1:1-12...

Verse 7...In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. (8)...And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead. (9)...Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. (10)...Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? (11)...And God said to Solomon, because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked for long life: but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made rhee king. (12)...Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

This is the fascinating story of Solomon, son of King David and Bathsheba, a man who had a really bad ladies problem in that he had waaaay to many yet was Blessed by God. History proves Solomon was the wisest man that ever lived and wealthest which was given to him by God himself. Verse 1 bears that out with profund simplicity and states...And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

What applied to Solomon also applies to leaders today whether they be elected officials, fathers, mothers or anyone willing to allow himself or herself to be used by God for His divine purpose. 

For accuracy, you can also read about this story in 1st Kings 3:1-15 and it is these passages you will find in verse 10...And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. Imagine if our leaders today began their time in office praying for wisdom to lead God's people instead of forgetting about the people choosing instead to set themselves up for their own gain.  

God was in fact so pleased with Solomon's request that He willing gave him those things he didn't ask for...wealth, honour and so much so no one will ever have what I have given you. That is POWERFUL. It also proves no one Blesses you like God Blesses you. Man's blessing can run into issues as time goes by. Someone who is the office pet being favored by a supervisor on the job can end if that supervisor leaves, or management changes or if the company is sold.

In the words of the song God, You are the source of my strength, God, You are the strength of my life, I give my Total Praise to You. Who would not want to have this kind of relationship with God? You and I have the opportunity and it truly is so sweet. 

If you are not an elected official, just a father or mother trying your best to raise your children the right way, take this example from Solomon and God will show His Power in your life and your children's lives. We need it in our homes, work places, Church, mission field and quite frankly everywhere. 

Let God be your source for every decision you make, ask Him for His wisdom, ask Him for those things that will help you become the leader He wants you to be and God will Bless you with everything you will ever need for success.
