God Is Calling, Will You Answer?

Romans 8:28 KJV…And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

If you ask someone if they have been called by God, their answer will undoubtedly be yes, absolutely. A big question however is, what have you been called to do?

In Genesis chapter 1, God used the word “called” 5 times in describing His creation and nothing has changed from what He called it. One of the most popular passages in the Old Testament that uses the word “called” is 2nd Chronicles 7:14 KJV…If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from the wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The “Call” is pretty special to God because when the “Called” do what God asks them to do, He in turn does miraculous and remarkable things for them. Things they can never do for themselves.

The Apostle Paul writes to the people of Rome and begins chapter 1 verse 1 KJV…Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the Gospel of God. A servant yields their will to their master, only doing what their master requires of them. In return God calls Paul to be an apostle and separates him to follow without question the Gospel of His Son Jesus Christ.

To Paul in his writings, “called” means being summoned by God for a specific purpose. Now, before someone reading this decides God called me to create chaos…remember God Blesses the obedient but that Blessing has to do with your relationship to His Son Jesus Christ…not man.

In Romans 8:28, the context of what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote God’s promise to use all things, the good bad and ugly (especially things we messed up} for good…but…it is a promise for only those who love God. And if you love God, there should be some evidence of a change from what you used to be. The good is those who conform to Christ.

You may be asking, Tom…is there any proof of this position you have taken? I believe so…The proof is found in the next verses 29 & 30…For who He did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30…Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them also justified: and whom he justified, them also he glorified.

The “Call” for us is giving the gift of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross to those who don’t know Him so they will have the assurance of eternal life when they have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If someone is trying to turn what God’s Word say’s to what they want it to say, they should be reminded we have the Holy Spirit leading and guiding us every day of our life to God’s Truth.

Nothing in this life (and I do mean nothing) should stop you from reaching God’s promise in Romans 8:28…in spite of all of our good, bad and ugly, God will turn it and you around for His purpose. Having been one who should not be here today because of things I did, God’s Amazing Grace proved to me how Truly Amazing God is.

When God calls you, and He will…give Him your yes. Surrender your will to His. He will prove to you his promises are real if only you will believe.

Thank You Lord For Your Word
