Mind Games

There was a commercial years ago that was directed toward anyone not pursuing greater things for them that used the line "The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waist" and indeed it is. The battle we face daily is over control of your mind and who will influence it, God or Satan. Spiritually, anytime the Bible refers to the heart, it is talking about your mind and not the organ pumping blood through your body.

The world will have you to believe, unless you are doing what your eyes see through the medium of television, movies and print ads or the actions of people seemingly enjoying themselves you are missing out on the greatest of pleasures the world has to offer but The Apostle Paul in Romans 12:2 reminds us...And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Here is a secret about me, I am also a "Criminal Minds" junkie, watching Hotchner, Morgan, Rossi, Reid, Prentiss, Garcia and JJ. Maybe it was the fact that they all used their last names, except for JJ, sometimes losing a case and sometimes winning one but the emotional swings that show takes me through leaves literally drained. There is another admission to make, I can only take so much Criminal Minds because it is a dark show. Too much of it leaves me wiped out, depressed. Is there anyone reading this also guilty of this?

We are bombarded with dark show after dark show on television, movies really aren't any better. Sure we get an occasional War Room or some other uplifting movie but by far, the majority are dark. My presumption is a focus group is used to see just how much influence a show or newscast can have over it's audience. Millions of dollars are spent to find out just how much control can a network, show, movie or print material have over those watching or reading.

Why are they doing it? The answer is simple, money and control. They want you mad and you don't even know it. Truth has to be told so you won't go too far in a certain direction but then the argument becomes "what is truth". This is satan's trick. 

The Bible warns of this in 2nd Timothy 3:1-7...This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2)...For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3)...Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4)...Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (5)...Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (6)...For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (7)...Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

In todays world, we have to have truth, not someones version of it but the truth that is only found in the Word of God. The Holy Spirit was given to believers because He will remind us of Jesus Christ, The Only Way, The Only Truth and The Only Light and how Christians are supposed to act and behave. 

What will The Spirit tell you that is so truthful? Philippians 4:8...Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 

Renew your mind not ever so often or when you think of it...renew your mind daily, be strong in the Lord and the Power of His Might, not your own. Those things which ye have both learned and received, and heard, and seen in me do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Romans 4:9 KJV
