The Power Of Pentecost Acts 2

How many are willing to admit God loves us so much He has always provided what we would ever need physically and spiritually even though we have been less than He designed us to be because of sin and our sin nature.

The prophets always told us what God said and in spite of our sin God continued to give us chance after chance to get it right. The right I am speaking of is His desire for us to bring as many as possible that don’t know Him to Him. To introduce the lost soul to our Great God in spite of everything that soul has done in rebellion. The world has so many distractions masked as opportunities we chase after only to eventually realize…we wasted time in pursuit of things that never satisfy what our Spirit needs…that relationship with our Heavenly Father.

The prophecy was in Joel 2:28 KJV…And it shall come to pass afterward , that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29..And also upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 32…And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

The New Testament links itself to the prophecy in the Gospel of John chapter 14 when Jesus tells his disciples He will be leaving them But will not leave them comfortless, He will send them the Holy Ghost John 14:12 KJV…Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Verse 16: And I will pray the father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. 17…Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Jesus walked among the people after His resurrection for 40 days proving He was truly alive. Before His final appearance, he leads His disciples out of the city and gives them what is called The Great Commission. In order to be prepared to complete their mission however Jesus tells them they will need POWER to witness about Him to win souls. The POWER is The Holy Ghost He referenced in John chapter 14-16.

They were instructed to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise. Acts 1:8…But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

For 10 days after Jesus ascension 120 men and women did as Jesus said devoting themselves to prayer when the fulfillment of the prophecy became the reality. Acts 2:1 KJV…And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2…And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3…And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4…And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Notice in the passages the obedience the 120 men and women displayed. When you are obedient to the call, remarkable things happen. Things like those above…yes and more. We are all given a measure of God’s Holy Spirit when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. That was the promise in John chapter 14-16. But there is a deeper POWERFUL occurrence that takes place within each believer when you are willing to ask for more.

The POWER released within you will enable you to accomplish things you never thought would be possible. Not by your own might or power but The Holy Ghost POWER. You may have witnessed it at some point during a church service. When God Spirit visits, nothing is business as usual. The 120 spoke in another language they never spoke before. Some laugh, some cry but your boldness to let Him use you accomplishes the unbelievable…until you see it for yourself.

This year, Pentecost Sunday will be June 5th. There is nothing like allowing God’s Holy Spirit to use you for His purpose. The Holy Ghost gives you POWER to witness like you have never experienced. My prayer for you will be that you will allow God to use you for His Glory, to have His way with you. Your life will never be the same if you do. The lives of the disciples and the women were never the same and what they accomplished for God’s Kingdom has never been equaled.

When Peter preached after being Filled with The Holy Ghost, 3,000 souls were saved. People from all over the know world heard unlearned Galileans speak in their native language. Regular people became God's warriors with His truth and the church was birthed.

God wants to use you to witness to the lost. This world we live in today is lost, many are dumbing down the Gospel because of some really strange reasons and souls will be lost because of it.

The Holy Ghost is alive waiting on you. Ask Him to fill you with His precious gift. Will you say “Yes” …

Thank You Lord For Your Word
